Award for the best basic examination

The student concluding the first year of the Bachelor degree with the highest marks in the basic examination will receive this award. The prize was initiated by Prof. em. Nikolaus Amrhein and consists of a sculpture and a monetary amount.

Award for the best Bachelor result

Awarded to the person who achieves the best overall result in the Bachelor's degree. The prize was donated by Prof. em. Wilhelm and consists of a monetary amount.

ETH medal for an excellent Master thesis

Requirement: Master thesis graded 6, master degree average at least 5.25. The ETH medal is awarded upon application by the supervisor of the student who submitted an outstanding master’s thesis. Applications must be submitted to the student administration office by August 31st. An additional external opinion confirming the excellence of the thesis will be obtained. The prize will be awarded at the master’s ceremony which will take place towards the end of the calendar year.

The application has to include a written statement regarding the excellence of the master thesis, a hard copy version and a PDF of the thesis and a list with three possible experts for the external opinion.

Willi Studer Prize

The Willi Studer prize is awarded annually to the top student for each master’s program offered at the ETHZ. This prize has been awarded since 1993 and is funded through the estate of Dr. h.c. Willi Studer. Masters degrees that have been finalized between 1 October of the previous year, through 30 September of the current year, will be considered. The prize is awarded at the master’s ceremony taking place towards the end of the calendar year.
